Bruce ChenowethCross Train Health and Fitness is happy to provide two Yoga classes a week, on Tuesday and Thursday, with certified instructor Bruce Chenoweth. Bruce teachs a beginning-level, Vinyasa-yoga based program focusing on using conscious breathing to link body and mind. Yoga is well-known for toning and strengthening muscles, as well as reducing stress and mentally focusing the mind.

What is Yoga?
Developed in India thousands of years ago, Yoga often is described as the “eight-limbed” path for living as first described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.

Traditionally, there are four main branches of yoga: Raja (self-control), Bhakti (devotional), Karma (service), Jnana (scholar). Other minor branches include Kundalini and Tantra. Most Western yoga, including this schools version, are based upon three components of Raja yoga:

  • asana (physical poses)
  • pranayama (breath control)
  • meditation.

What can I expect from Bruce's classes?
Bruce teachs a beginning-level, Vinyasa-yoga based program focusing on using conscious breathing to link body and mind.

Vinyasa yoga is a moderately challenging form of yoga where each asana (posture) is joined with the next to create a flowing, dance-like sequence.

If you have any health concerns or haven't had a physical in a while, get a physician's okay before taking up Yoga (or any exercise system)
